The Transitional Year Programme (TYP) is a full-time, eight-month access-to-University program. It is intended for adults who do not have the formal qualifications for university admission. Most TYP students have grown up in communities where very few people have access to higher education. It is meant for those who did not have an opportunity to finish high school because of financial problems, family difficulties or other circumstances beyond their control. We actively encourage applications from members of the Native Canadian, African-Canadian, and LGBTQ communities, sole-support parents, persons with disabilities, and individuals from working-class backgrounds of all ethnicities. The Transitional Year Programme is quite unique – we provide each student with an academic advisor, access to counselling and funding options, a space to work, socialize, and be with other students in their program. The Transitional Year Programme also gives students full access to the University - and all of the resources available to any other full-time or part-time university student

Dr. Roz’s Healing Place is a centre for empowerment and healing that works towards the eradication of violence against women and their children locally, nationally and globally.
Vision Statement
Dr. Roz’s Healing Place recognizes that violence against women is a health issue. Through the delivery of innovative programs and services, Dr. Roz’s Healing Place helps empower women to make positive changes through the cultivation of a holistic lifestyle.
To fulfill our mission, our vision is to:
Provide abused women and their children with safe refuge, individual and group crisis counselling, advocacy, and follow-up services.
Strive to ensure that race, ethnic origin, language, religion, or sexual orientation, do not serve as barriers to access or full participation within the agency.
View violence against women as a criminal act. Recognize that it is not an issue of individual pathology, but a serious societal problem that crosses all cultural and economic boundaries. Believe that its practice is perpetuated by a patriarchal system that devalues women and children and condones the use of violence to control them.
Educate professional and community groups about Violence against Women issues. Promote an attitude of community responsibility for Violence against Women response and prevention.
Participate in social action aimed at legal and institutional reform in an effort to alleviate the effects and eliminate the incidents of Violence against Women. Promote the empowerment of women with a view towards increasing individual self-sufficiency and a collective capacity to challenge the structures that continue to oppress women.
Philosophy
A life without violence, is the ONLY life to live.

Our support services provide women with a space where they will be listened to without being judged, and where a woman's perspective of her abuse or assault is the focus. All of our support services are confidential, free, and available in French for women over the age of 16. The majority of our services are available to women residing in the Greater Toronto Area, however the support line, 1-877-femaide (336-2433), is available in all of Ontario.
Fem'aide offers French-speaking women who have experienced gender-based violence, support, information and referral to appropriate front-line services within their communities, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Fem'aide can also respond to requests for information made by family and friends of women who are victims of violence. The helpline's main focus is to assist women who have experienced violence in an intimate relationship and women who have been sexually assaulted. Fem'aide uses a feminist approach empowering women to identify their own needs and to make their own informed decisions.

Respite care is a family support service that provides temporary relief from the physical and emotional demands involved in caring for a family member who has a disability. Respite creates greater opportunities for all family members to live actively and participate in community activities and allows parents/guardians time for themselves.
CHAP Program
The CHAP (Community Helpers for Active Participation) Program is an integral part of respiteservices.com.
This Program was developed through a partnership of Geneva Centre for Autism and Bloorview MacMillan Children's Centre. The CHAP Program aims to recruit a large base of workers interested in supporting persons with a developmental disability including autism and/or physical disability to provide meaningful respite opportunities through community based options. Families are able to connect with workers to fulfill Special Services At Home contracts and agencies are able to access workers to enable individuals to participate in community based respite opportunities.
